Benefits and Harms of Asparagus

Many confuse two completely different plants − asparagus and asparagus-style beans. The first plant refers to the vegetables, but the second belongs to leguminous crops. And perhaps this is because the people in the world know that asparagus beans are called asparagus in shortly manner. - vitamins A and E; 
- vitamin PP and B vitamins; 
- an insignificant amount of vitamin C. 

Just like in many other vegetables and fruits, the asparagus is rich in zinc and potassium, as well as phosphorus, calcium and has even more than 50 micro-elements. However, more valuable is that the asparagus contains protein, which is very useful. In addition, the asparagus is contained an asparagine. This is a mineral substance, which helps expanding the vessels' walls, therefore, contribute to lowering blood pressure. Also, this substance helps removing the harmful substances from the organism, in particular − ammonia. The latter contributes to the emergence of many problems associated with the intake and the circulation of blood and so on. Thus, the asparagus is used as a painful remedy after, for example, the heart attacks or other cardiovascular diseases. 

The positive qualities of asparagus affect the functioning of the organs of hearing and sight. So, it helps to regulate the work of nerve cells, thereby making these organs work more clearly and respond to the smallest visual or sound effects. Also, vitamin A, part of the asparagus, helps improving the skin, cleans it and nourishes with useful substances. For the bones and the muscle tissues, especially useful vitamins PP and E, and, of course, minerals (iron and phosphorus, magnesium) involved in the processes of cell and tissue formation. A good effect of the asparagus has on the urinary system, having a good diuretic effect. Thus, the kidneys are cleaned of salts and stones formed in the organs. 

It should be recognized that the asparagus is the most useful for the circulatory system. It prevents the development of blood diseases, will help in the fight against the treatment of the atherosclerosis or the cirrhosis of the liver, as well as the hepatitis of the initial stages. In many ways, the asparagus affects the liver, making it the more productive and effective to work, and protect it from diseases. 

The asparagus has an excellent effect on the digestive process. Thus, the cellulose, which is the component of its composition, contributes to the normal allocation of the gastric juice, processing and further digestion in the intestine. Thus, the asparagus does not cause the frustration and the unpleasant sensations, the swelling or anything else. For the same reasons, it is recommended for using by the pregnant women because for a normal development of the child, the asparagus is simply necessary. Still, it is an excellent assistant with a disease like the diabetes because this vegetable is practically sugar-free, but on the contrary − the substances that make up it, contribute to the sugar removal from the organism.

Also, it is known to use the asparagus as a cosmetic mean whose properties purify and soften the skin, so masks made based on the asparagus for the face are useful. 


Harmful Properties of Asparagus. What Is It Necessary to Know?

The asparagus is not a dangerous or harmful product, but it should be abandoned by those, who suffer from the peptic diseases − stomach ulcers, intestines and so on. Also, you should choose the right asparagus before buying. For this, pay attention to the fact that the vegetable's stems are smooth and soft to the touch and also at their color. It should have a brilliant appearance and somehow "squeak" if you hold it in your hands. The asparagus is best stored in a low bay together with other vegetables or potherbs that is in the bottom container of the refrigerator. However, too long to keep the asparagus in the cold is also not recommended, and it is better to eat it as soon as possible.
