Use and Application of Giant Hyssop

A giant hyssop is one of the plant species that belongs to the genus "Lophanthus". The most prominent representatives are the anise hyssop and the Tibetan giant hyssop. They have very similar beneficial properties, but the last plant is somewhat more useful than its anise "brother". Using of the giant hyssop was indicated still a few centuries ago, and the first to feel its useful actions, were the Tibetan monks. 

A giant hyssop's degree of distribution and use is enormous. It is used not only in the folk-medicine, but also in the landscape design to emphasize beauty, and also the giant hyssop is a favorite plant of beekeepers, since its inflorescences are the excellent honey-plants. The honey from the hyssop is obtained specifically fragrant and useful. 

In height, this plant can reach a little more three feet, and its leaves very much like the nettle's leaves. The flowers of the giant hyssop ripen spiky, with a lilac, white or blue shade. In this plant there are numerous essential oils, which is also an occasion for using the hyssop in cosmetology.  

For the treatment and using in the cosmetology, it is collected twice a year − once in the spring, as well as in the early autumn. On basis of the giant hyssop prepare the decoctions, the alcohol tinctures and the creams and many other cosmetic products − the face masks, the foot baths, etc.


Use of Giant Hyssop in Medicine 

The giant hyssop is widely used in the folk-medicine as a strong biological stimulant, similar to "northern ginseng." It is used to strengthen the immunity; the giant hyssop helps to get rid of nervous or physical exhaustion, and also helps cope with the stresses and dejections.  

The giant hyssop has a significant benefit as a means to increase the endurance and the performance. In addition, it slows down the aging process in the body, regulates the metabolism. 

When properly used, the giant hyssop cleanses a blood and organism from the toxins, the slags and the radionuclides. It is advisable to use this plant for the bronchial asthma, the pneumonia or the bronchitis. Inhalations, based on it, are also successfully used in diseases such as chronic tonsillitis or sore throat.

The plant helps get rid of insomnia, headache and other ailments of nervous system. The decoctions of hyssop affect the work of intestine at the vegeto-vascular dystonia. 

To prepare a hyssop's broth, one tablespoon of finely chopped dry or fresh stems, leaves and flowers of the giant hyssop should be poured with a cup of boiling water, and then insist in a thermos for about two hours. A strained drink is consumed before meals by half a cup three times a day. 

Such, but a more concentrated broth is used externally for the treatment of fungi and skin diseases. It is very useful baths with the giant hyssop. They are often recommended even for the newborns. They disinfect and tonify the skin, soothe, heal wounds and help in the treatment of diathesis. 

 

A rejuvenating mask with the giant hyssop. Mix the hyssop's greens (processed on a meat grinder), the cottage cheese, the honey and the dried leaves of hyssop for one tablespoon each of them. Apply the mixture on your face, soak it for a quarter of an hour, then rinse and wipe the skin with the giant hyssop's decoction.  


 

A mask for hair with the giant hyssop. Pass the hyssop through the meat grinder, then, squeeze out the juice from it. The resulting liquid rub into the skin and hair roots, soak the mask for half an hour, then, wash your head as usual.

Cleansing mask with the giant hyssop from black dots and blackheads. Dissolve a pair of spoons of white or blue clay with the decoction until the formation of gruel. Apply the mixture on your face and leave up to dry, then rinse and wipe the skin with the hyssop's decoction. 

Lotion with the hyssop for problem skin. Mix one cup of hyssop and chamomile broth, add one tablespoon of medical alcohol into the resulting liquid. Keep the lotion in the fridge and wipe the skin after each washing.
