Useful Properties of Prunes

The prunes have a very useful set of properties and qualities, especially when we consider that this is just a dried fruit. First, this product has an antibacterial effect that extends to the human body − it destroys harmful microbes and bacteria and not only in the gastrointestinal tract or the genitourinary system, but also in the organism as a whole.  That is why, the prunes are recommended to take in the case of infectious diseases instead of the medicaments and medicines, as a folk remedy. The dried fruit is very effective in diseases of the digestive system, for example, with its help you can treat constipation.  For this, it is enough to consume 5-7 prunes a day, and the troubles will disappear.  The same goes for just discomfort in the abdomen, pains and so on.

The prunes are excellently showed themselves as a depurant. So, they actively affect the choleretic and the diuretic systems, cleaning them and removing the harmful toxins from the organism. To a large extent, the prunes reduce the risk of diseases associated with the heart − the hypertension, for example, and so on.  As for action of the prunes in the struggle for weight loss, then they perform several functions at once. The first − is that the dried fruit significantly reduces the level of cholesterol in the blood, which means that the blood will become cleaner and the body healthier. So, there will be a blockage of blood vessels and veins, so the diseases associated with the cardiovascular system (including the weight problems) will effectively disappear, if they exist, and will not appear if they do not exist.  Also, the prunes contribute to an increase in the feeling of satiety, which, of course, will help with losing weight.  To combat overweight, it is enough to eat 3-4 prunes in the diet three times a day and then you will notice how effective the results will be.

Moreover, the prunes can be consumed not only in the pure form, so to speak, on dry rations, but also with various dishes. For example, dried fruit is a part of such dishes as baked meat from mutton or veal, "hen with prunes" or "rabbit with prunes in sour cream" - these are quite common dishes to date. The prunes are used and in the combination with sweeties, for example with the chocolate, or when making compotes. Thus, the prunes remain not only a useful substance in the composition of any dish, but also a real decoration of any culinary recipe.

Harmful Qualities of Prunes

Unfortunately, the prunes have some harmful qualities and contraindications.  So, it is necessary to avoid this dried fruit for people who have problems with a low pressure. Also, the prunes are not recommended for people who have problems with the presence of sugar in the blood.  That is, the patients with diabetes also should not get too carried away by this useful (but for them dangerous) dried fruit.

Contraindicated such product and for the lactating mothers because prunes, getting into the mother's milk, can cause the child to stomach problems. After all, the children's organism is initially rid of any problems associated with digestion, but thanks to the products such as the prunes, we are only developing these problems in our children. Thus, dried fruits are indeed very useful and effective; however, they have some contraindications, which make them, unfortunately, not quite ideal food products.
