Nori Seaweed − Useful Properties. Harm

Seafood includes not only fish or shellfish, for example, but also the various types of seaweed and other marine plants. Among many species of algae there is a fairly interesting variety − nori, red seaweeds. To a large extent, these seaweeds grow in the coastal waters of Japan, China, South Korea and Thailand. Most often this product is used for making sushi or rolls, but it can also be found in the other eastern dishes. Also, nori can be called differently, for example, "kusa", which in Japanese means "grass".

In the usual for us cooking, these seaweeds can be added to a variety of dishes − in porridge and with meat, using them in salads and soups, to make a paste or some puree. However, the most interesting is the fact that the nori seaweed have useful properties, and even unique ones.

As you may have guessed, the useful properties of the nori seaweed directly depend on the composition of the product. By the way, the nori seaweed has one unique substance called cobalamin. It is a kind of vitamin B12, from which it is obtained. By the way, the same amount of the same substance is found in the meat and the milk. Consequently, these seaweeds can completely replace the animal products for those who refuse meat or dairy products − for the vegetarians.

Also, the nori seaweed are unique since the fact that they contain very little iodine, in contrast to other seafood. This, in turn, makes it possible to consume algae to those who have any allergic reaction to iodine. A very important useful property of the nori seaweed is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. You can consume this seaweed in a dried form, then they will help get rid of gastric ulcers and tumors, reduce the risk of their occurrence and warn of the development of cardiovascular diseases.

By the way, almost all seafoods are useful for the brain function. However, the nori seaweed is extremely useful for this function. Since about 15-20% of the total energy of the body goes to the functioning of the brain and nervous system, our organism needs more energy, which will saturate the nerve cells and update their work. Due to the content of the omega-3 and fatty acids in the seaweed, this product is a good source of energy for our brain, and other useful substances in the nuri will improve the motility and memory, help being more concentrated and attentive.

Just like in many plant products, the nori seaweed contains dietary fibre, which also has its useful functions. These fibres help improve digestion, and together with cellular tissue improve and the assimilation of substances that enter the organism. In addition, both these substances help developing the beneficial bacteria in the body, and contribute to weight loss. And the final plus of these substances is a feeling of satiety after eating, which will help determine an appearing sense of satiety.

The use of the nori seaweed is also in the beneficial effect on the circulatory system and its organs. Due to the presence of Omega-3 in these algae, the level of cholesterol significantly decreases, which is very useful for those who suffer from the excess cholesterol, and just for prevention. In addition, the substances that make up the seaweed contribute to strengthening the blood vessels and heart, dilute the blood and promote the normalization of pressure.

The use of seafood for the cosmetic purposes has long been a habit. So it is with the nori seaweed, which is used for the face refreshing and rejuvenating masks. The nori seaweed have an antibacterial effect and anti-inflammatory property, which, of course, will help ridding the skin of redness and inflammations. Among other things, the nori seaweed will help and the eyesight organs because they contain vitamins A and C, which reduce the eye tension, the risk of developing eye diseases − cataracts, night blindness and other frustrating diseases. Similarly, the nori seaweed also affect teeth, strengthening tooth enamel and promoting its normal functioning. These algae help strengthen the gums because of which the problems with dental diseases will disappear (to a greater extent).

Harmful Qualities of Nori Seaweed

As for the harmful properties of this product, then it is worth noting the allergic intolerance. So, even if they contain a little iodine, but it still has a place in the product and still can cause unpleasant consequences, from which it is better, of course, to protect yourself. Therefore, the use of nori seaweed is also necessary to control, as well as the use of the other seafood and usual products.
