Agave − Useful Properties, Recipes and Application

An agave is called the plant of the same name family, whose homeland is rightfully considered to be Mexico. From the agave, Mexicans learned to make sugar, extract molasses from molasses and make real alcoholic drinks. Known to everyone "Tequila" and "Mezcal" are drinks containing namely the agave in them. 

The plant is rather widely used in the cooking and confectionery, it is used in the folk-medicine too. The syrups and the nectars based on the agave's leaves are used as sweeteners rich in fructose and inulin. The taste of agave is much sweeter than the ordinary sugar, so it can be used so widely. 

A special advantage of the plant's syrup can be called its use for the diabetics, to which the ordinary sugar is prohibited. Actually, further we will consider the useful properties of agave, than it is useful and how it to use. 

In the pulp of plant, as well as in the agave's syrup contains a very rich composition. This plant is saturated with the vitamins, all kinds of minerals, as well as the unique saccharides.  In the agave, there are the vitamins E, K, as well as the vitamin A and a group of vitamins B. Among the minerals, the ferrum and magnesium, the potassium and phosphorus, the sodium, the zinc and copper are the most abundant. 

The agave contains aloins − the so-called mixture of antishlucosides. These substances are split into two components, the sugar substitute is arabinose, and the eluzin. Among the other things, in the agave it can be found the various resins and essential oil. 

Between the most pronounced beneficial properties of agave, in the first place is to highlight the strengthening in peristalsis of large intestine. So, the agave has a remissive effect, about ten hours after the start of procedure. Also, this plant has the antipyretic and analgesic properties. It has an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect, has the expectorant properties, which is why the agave is often used to combat the respiratory diseases.  An infusion from the agave's leaves is used for the dispersion, the heartburn, the abundant belching and bloating. 

Based on the agave, they make medicines for external use. In particular, the plant is effective in the radiculitis and the rheumatism, the occurrence of furunculosis, with the malaise, the breasts or the sprains. Agave's root is useful in the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, as an additional (but not the main) remedy. The agave's juice is relevant for teenagers, in particular, to get rid of pimples and acne, boils, blains and other skin manifestations. The agave's leaf, cut along, can be applied to the festering wounds, which will suck out a pus and improve the healing. 

The agave is suitable for the treatment of neuralgic diseases. In particular, it improves the metabolism in the organism, facilitates the withdrawal of excess fluid, and improves the digestive system. Thanks to this plant, the gallbladder's work improves, there is accelerated tissue regeneration and lactation in the breast-feeding women improves. 

Water and alcohol infusions on the basis of agave leaves, are used to treat the diseases of liver, lungs and stomach. Also, the infusion of this plant with the wormwood is used to treat the dropsy. Mixing the juice of agave with the honey, you can treat the bronchitis and the tuberculosis.

Contraindications to Using 

The contraceptive property of the agave has two-sided properties. On the one hand, it will be by the way for those who do not want to become pregnant, on the other - a real hindrance for those who wishing to have a child. 

In addition, the agave is contraindicated in people with the impaired liver and gallbladder functions. And, of course, an individual intolerance is another incentive to abandon the use of agave. 

Recipes for Application of Agave 

For the treatment of gastrointestinal tract the various recipes of agave are used. We will present you the three most effective prescriptions.  

Recipe № 1: 20-25 drops of fresh agave's juice per one tablespoon of water.  Take for edema, to normalize the digestive tract three times a day before meals.   

Recipe number 2: 1.8 oz of crushed agave's leaves per one cup of boiled water with the room temperature, infuse four-six hours and filter.  Take one tablespoon three times a day before meals with the digestive tract diseases.  

Recipe number 3: 1.8 oz of crushed agave's leaves for one cup of boiling water to infuse for one hour and filter.  Take one tablespoon three times a day with diseases of the digestive tract, the hepatitis, the cough and the bronchitis. Air dried agave's leaves are ground, sifted and stored in a tightly closed container. Take 0.007-0.02 g three times a day for the jaundice and the liver disease.  

Infusion of agave.  Freed from the thorns, the crushed leaf of medium sized agave (weighing about 50 grams) is poured into a glass of boiled water at room temperature, insisted for 6 hours, filtered.  Take 1 tbsp.  3 times a day before meals with liver, stomach and lung diseases.  

For the treatment of bronchitis. A mixture is prepared: agave juice - 15 g, porcine or goose fat - 10 g, unsalted butter - 100 g, bee honey - 100 g, cocoa 50 g. Stir thoroughly and take 1 tbsp.  For 1 glass of warm milk 2 times a day for pulmonary tuberculosis and chronic bronchitis.  

For the treatment of arthritis. Agave helps in the treatment of arthritis, polyarthritis and rheumatism.  For their treatment, take a three-year agave, pass through a meat grinder and squeeze 800 ml of juice through a sturdy gauze.  Add 200 ml of 96% alcohol to insist in a dark place for 7 days and take 20 minutes before meals 3 times a day for 20 drops with 1 tablespoon.  water.  

With pulmonary tuberculosis or protracted bronchitis, the following mixture based on the plant is used: pigs or goose pigs - 100 grams, cream butter, unsalted - 100 grams, honey bees (pure) - 100 g, agave leaves juice - 15 ml, cocoa for taste  But not necessarily) - 50 g. Take 2 times a day for 1 tbsp.  For a glass of hot milk.
